Brodie's Corner,  Poems on Relationships

God Restores

Careful with your words and the hateful things you spurt

Because the damage is not seen but the tears can’t hide the hurt

With a serpent’s words and alcohol on your breath

You bid me farewell and wished upon my death

I told you I’d see you in hell where the both of us belong

Thank God for the prayers of a mother because it made that statement wrong

I imagine your childhood and picture what you went through

It gives me some compassion and changes my overall view

Today, I’ve forgiven you and exchanged love for the hate

Because man, that’s a heavy burden and a lot of unnecessary weight

God must of touched his heart too because I got a letter in the mail from my Dad

Apologizing for all of the pain he caused and the relationship we never had
