Encouragement
To encourage someone is to inspire with courage, spirit, and hope. Who do you look to for inspiration? Is it a parent, a family member, a friend, or maybe a well known author? Encouragement can come from many different sources as long as it is a positive influence and uplifting.
During my dark time, my parents were so supportive and encouraging. They have always provided truth–good, bad, and ugly. In fact, my Mom is the one who said that one day I would share my story and help women overcome their abuse and provide hope for them. She was right, as most parents are, and here I am sharing my story with everyone in hopes that it will help you find your strength and know that you can get through this.
Another person that can help you through these tough times is a close friend or significant other that does not show judgement towards you. The below pictures are of a birthday card I received this past January. I could not have come as far as I have without help and someone standing by me, holding my hand and walking with me. It is my prayer that you find someone that can give you that kind of encouragement and reminds you everyday that YOU GOT THIS!
If you are the type of person that hides your struggles and you would prefer not to share them with anyone but are looking for encouragement, check out Embraced . I received it as a gift this past Christmas and I have found it to be very helpful. The author is Lysa TerKeurst and she’s had her own struggles in life and she shares them in this devotion and encourages you in a way that you feel like “Oh, if she can do this…so can I”!
Remember, YOU ARE STRONG. YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. YOU ARE WORTH IT!
P.S.
Just to be clear, this blog can also help men. Narcissism is not gender specific. There are men out there who are being abused by a woman in their life. If you’re a male and you’re dealing with this, I want you to also know that you are worth more and you deserve so much better! Reach out to your family or a friend. You DO NOT have to deal with this alone!
