Betrayal and Lies

Have you been betrayed by someone close to you? It really sucks right? It feels like a total different level of hurt.

When this occurs, you begin to think back on where things began to change and if its something that you did or didn’t do. You begin to question things like,

  • What if we wouldn’t have attended that event, would we be where we are right now?
  • What if I would have a different career, would he/she have still have been unfaithful?
  • What if I had more money, would he/she be happier because I would be able to provide more of the material things that is desired?

There are so many “what ifs” that we can ask ourselves and I don’t have an answer for any of those. What I do know is, we can not live by the “what ifs”. Those thoughts will not change anything and will only cause you to feel more anxious.

We can’t change the decisions that people make that result in hurting us. What we can determine is the effectiveness of it. It does not have to change who we are as a person. We do not have to hold on to anger, hurt, hate, and un-forgiveness because at the end of the day, it ONLY affects us and not the other person.

With betrayal comes lies. There is not one without the other. People can’t keep up a facade for a long period of time. It wares on them. It breaks them down. It is emotionally and physically exhausting. What’s the point of it anyway? Light always exposes shady things at some point. You just have to give it time to do so. You don’t need to play an FBI agent and research and try to find every possible clue. When you do that, you’re  stressing yourself out and making yourself sick. Instead, just sit back and let time do its job.

You will learn a lot about a person in times of betrayal. Things that you would have never dreamed the person that was your world would do to you. Some of them will conjure up a story to justify it and most of it will contain lies. So when the text roll in for that justification, there’s no need to address it. Just ignore it because if you respond, you will get more lies. Save your heart from further hurt.

If you’re doing something that you know is wrong, stop being a coward and tell the other person the truth because 90% of the time, they already know it, they just want you to be honest about it.

If you’re going dealing with a tough situation, know that YOU ARE WORTH MORE and YOU DESERVE BETTER.
