Suicide

Suicide is a subject that is not talked about enough. I’ve heard people ask, “How can they do that to their families?” And say “They took the easy way out.” Those types of questions or statements come from people who have never been so low in life or in such hurt and pain that suicide seemed to be the only option to end their suffering. When you contemplate suicide, you don’t think about your family or your friends. You don’t think about what religion you were raised in. You don’t think about work or your co-workers. You’re only thought is,  “I want all is for the hurt and pain to end right now.”

If you don’t understand this, I’m happy for you. Its not something that someone should ever understand. Instead of saying things like “They took the easy way out” or “How can they do that to their families” try to be more mindful in that they may have felt like there was no other solution to end the pain that they felt. If you see a friend, family member or co-worker that was once happy and joyous that now seems withdrawn and disconnected, reach out to them. Ask them if you can help them with anything. Let them know that you are available to lend a listening ear to. You may not know what the person next to you is going through. The saddest people sometimes have the brightest smiles.

Show of hands if you’ve ever been here? I’m here to tell you that no matter what you’re facing, suicide is not the solution. Reach out to someone. Reach out to me! I’m not sure what your beliefs are, but reach out to God. Connect with a counselor, a teacher, a friend, just SOMEONE! Do not take this on alone. There are resources to help get you through this. If I could look you in the face right now, I would tell you to pick your head up and stand up because you are stronger than you feel right now. You will survive!
